Taking Tests
How Do I Take a Test?
Learn how to take a test in ExamLive. Answer questions in either display mode, watch your remaining time, and submit your answers.
The layout
The test screen keeps the essentials pinned: the test name, a Time remaining countdown synced to the server, and a Submit Test button. In one-at-a-time mode there's also a progress bar tracking how many questions you've answered.
Two display modes
- One at a time: a single question fills the screen. Previous steps back when the test allows it, and the forward button reads Next Question once you've answered or Skip Question if you haven't.
- All at once: every question sits on one scrollable page so you can answer in any order.
Whoever created the test picked the mode.
Answering
Multiple choice and true/false questions are answered with a click, short answers typed into the text box. Every answer saves automatically as you go.
Closing the browser
Nothing is lost. Answers persist continuously and your deadline is fixed from the moment you started, so reopening the link drops you on your first unanswered question with the correct remaining time.
Warnings
If monitoring is enabled, switching tabs, clicking away, exiting fullscreen, or copying text triggers an instant warning telling you which violation occurred and how many remain. Details in Monitoring Rules and Violations.
Fullscreen tests
If fullscreen is required and you leave it mid-test, the screen is covered until you click Re-enter Fullscreen.
Submitting
Click Submit Test and confirm in the dialog that appears. When the countdown reaches zero, whether you're active or not, the test submits itself automatically.
Afterwards you're taken to your result page, which shows whatever the organizer's result visibility setting allows.
