How Do I Auto-Release Results?
Learn how auto-release works in ExamLive. Publish results the moment a test ends, or keep them manual for tests you want to review first.
What auto-release does
When auto-release is on, results go out on their own the moment a person finishes the test. No one has to press anything once the last submission lands, and each participant gets the same in-app announcement a manual publish would send.
Where to find it
In Settings › Experience, below the What Students See selector, the Release results automatically switch controls the timing:
- On: results are released automatically as each submission finishes.
- Off: results stay private and you release them by hand. See Publish Results.
How it teams up with what people see
Auto-release only decides when results go out, never what they contain. What each person sees is still controlled by the result visibility setting:
- Don't show results overrides auto-release: nothing is published, no matter what the switch says.
- Score only and Full review both auto-release, so score-only tests publish themselves too.
Changing your mind
The switch stays editable even after a test is published, so you can move a test between automatic and manual release anytime. It only affects submissions that finish from then on; anything already released stays as it is.
