How Do I Publish Results?
Learn how to publish results in ExamLive. Release graded scores with an in-app notification, and unpublish to fix mistakes.
Grading vs publishing
Grades stay private while you work. Publishing is the separate step that makes them visible, and what people then see depends on the test's result visibility setting. If someone says they can't see their score, a missing publish is almost always the reason.
How to publish
From the Submissions list of your test, select finished submissions and run the publish action, either for a whole selection at once or one submission through its three-dot menu. The confirmation dialog lists every person with a status:
- Ready to publish: included when you confirm.
- Published: already out, skipped.
- Cannot publish: blocked, with the reason shown. The usual cause is a session that's still active.
Check Notify to send everyone included an in-app announcement that results are ready, then confirm. You can also publish straight from a submission's grading page, where the same button reads Update Results once results are already out.
Unpublishing
The matching unpublish action hides scores again until you republish, which makes it the tool for fixing a grading mistake spotted after release: unpublish, adjust, publish once more.
Publishing with the AI assistant
You can also ask the AI assistant to publish or unpublish results for you. It runs the same actions with the same confirmation dialog, so nothing goes out without your approval. See Publish Results with AI.
